11.1.6. The diachronism of the coarsening upward Dacian-aged unit
The coarsening upward trend of the deposits indicates these sedimentary units
have prograding characteristics. The coarsening upward Dacian unit extends
over most of the Dacian Basin area (Fig. 11.8). Consequently, the migration of the
coarsening upward Dacian-age deposits represented a significant event produced
throughout the Dacian Basin.
The Dacian coarsening upward deposits migrated southward from the vicinity
of the Carpathian Mountains (the clastic material source-area). In the south-western
part of the Dacian Basin, the progradation of the coarsening upward sediments
advanced up to the southern limit of the Dacian Basin.
