Yonr New QCWA Joumal is
great. Congraitlations! And you picked some
good columnists.
Suggestions{ne of the most
misunderstood and yet popular zubjects for
ham discussion is the mystery of antenna
tuning, resonance and matching. We still
hear and read about "all the tuner does is
fool the transmitter." This kind of
misinformation is published all the time and
the flmd of new hams is receiving bad
advice.
Ask Walt Maxwell to do a short
series on the subject and reverse the trend.

to stop in the middle of the Christmas
activities and tell you...WOW!!! What a
grand and blessed change you have brought
to the Journal and I hope you will continue
the excellent coverage and work.

Dear Editor:
Congratulations on your first issue
of the QCWA Journal as editor. It's
excellent and very professional. I especially
like the columns with varied subjects. I'm
particularly pleased with the articles that are,
and will be, slanted to the woman's world of
QCWA/QCWW. I've advocated this for
years!
I hope you will stress informative
and historical articles and minimize chapter
reports. The latter are of basic interest to
chapter mernbers ordy.
Under your editorial guidance the
Journal has the opportunity to become a fine
publication. Good luck and keep up the fine
work.

Dear Editor:
I would like to offer a suggestion
that might be well received by the QQWA
membrship.
Could a list be published or made
available upon request of various chapter
meeting times (i.e. second Saturday of the
month, etc.) or a contact person for each
chapter?
As I travel the country on business
I am sure I could attend a meeting or two if I
only had some easy \ryay to track down the
appropriate information.
I have a feeling that a list like this
might become very popular.

Being Overwhelmed with Disbelief

Dear Editor:
While trying to look past the new
format for omissions, or abbreviated features,
I was suddenly overwhelmed with disbelief
by the embarrassing position Carol King,
K5CPZ, is placed.
No doubt she was encowaged to
urrite, "Quarter Cenhrry Wireless Women," a
topic of which she has absolutely no
knowledge. QCWW members are not wives
of QQWA members. True, some are, but they
are also QCWA members in the truest sense,
being qualified in every respect.
Carol should have taken the time to
research the history of QCWW, its founders,
the fact that it is Chapter 120 of QCWA, the
current oflicers and that it has a quaxt€dy
newsletter, "Silver Sparks" also on audio
tape.
Better yet, if she is going to write
the column and write authoritatively, perhaps
she should join the QCWW, She can get an
application by contacting Betty Strattan,
W2PVS.

I must apologize to you for your
having been "overuhelmed with disbelief'
about Carol King, KSCPZ's column.
Hovever, afur it vas published
and before I received your letter we had
conversation with Blanche Randles, l.y4GXZ,
one of the founders of the @Wl Chapter
and have agreed to rename the column
"Silver Belles," (a name Carol thought of,
incidennll) pincipally because, os Blanche
put it, "Some will be jealous of one chapter
standing out when all the others are
relegated to the 'Chapter Reports' section."
To the ertent that you and others
received the wrong impression that Carol is
stictly reporting on the QCWfi/ chapter, it
u,as my foult. She is not. She is reporting on
the activities ol YLs, both members and
spouses of members
Please, again, accept my apologies
Ior the confusion concerning Carol's
coltrmn. It was started with the best of
intentions to cover, as I said, activities of
YLs in QCWA.
