<strong>NCAA</strong> First and Second Rounds at Miami • <strong>May</strong> 9-10, <strong>2008</strong><br />
by Central Connecticut State <strong>University</strong> at Stanley Park<br />
in New Britain, Conn. Junior Jacob Gurzler finished 3rd<br />
overall and 1st among all Northeast Conference runners<br />
in the race.<br />
Women’s cross country won the Ted Owen Invitational<br />
hosted by Central Connecticut State <strong>University</strong> at Stanley<br />
Park in New Britain, Conn. Sophomore Kristen Stevens<br />
(Succasunna, N.J.) finished in 2nd place overall with a<br />
time of 17:31.<br />
September 16: Sophomore Amber Sidoti scored twice<br />
as women’s soccer won their fourth straight game of the<br />
year, 3-0, over Providence.<br />
Men’s golf junior Ian O’Connor finished 4th overall at<br />
the Rutger’s Golf Invitational after shooting a 68 in the<br />
third round of play. O’Connor had five birdies on the final<br />
18 holes.<br />
September 17: Men’s soccer junior Graciano Brito wass<br />
named the Brine/NEC Player of the Week.<br />
Women’s soccer sophomore Amber Sidoti is named the<br />
Brine/NEC Player of the Week.<br />
September 18: For the first time in school history, men’s<br />
soccer received votes in a national poll as <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> was<br />
featured in the College Soccer News Top 30 poll.<br />

September 19: Men’s cross country junior Jacob Gurzler and<br />
women’s cross country sophomore Kristen Stevens were<br />
named the NEC Athletes of the Week.<br />
Men’s golf junior Ian O’Connor was named the Northeast<br />
Conference Golfer of the Week.<br />
September 21: Men’s and women’s cross country swept their<br />
home meet, the <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> Invitational. On the men’s side,<br />
the Bobcats took the first five spots in the race while the<br />
women took the top four.<br />
September 23: Women’s soccer Sophomores Susan Donovan<br />
and Sara Lawlor each scored twice as <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> defeated<br />
Siena, 5-2, at Bobcat Field.<br />
September 24: Women’s soccer sophomore Susan Donovan<br />
was named the Brine/NEC Player of the Week for the second<br />
time this season.<br />
Men’s golf junior Ian O’Connor finished 7th out of 48 golfers<br />
at the Dartmouth Invitational.<br />
September 26: Men’s cross country junior Jacob Gurzler and<br />
sophomore Kristen Stevens won the NEC Cross Country<br />
Athletes of the Week for the second straight week.<br />
Women’s tennis sophomore Mary Wilson is named the<br />
Prince/Northeast Conference Player of the Week.<br />
September 28: Men’s soccer junior Graciano Brito recorded<br />
his second hat trick of the season in a 5-0 win over Canisius.<br />
Women’s soccer hosted Iona in celebration of the 20th Anniversary<br />
of the first <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> women’s soccer game in<br />
program history. <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> beat Iona, 3-0, as freshmen Sara<br />
Lawlor, Lauren Peacock and Johanne Walleck all scored for<br />
the Bobcats.<br />
September 30: Women’s soccer won their seventh consecutive<br />
game when Justine Lombardi and Lauren Peacock each<br />
scored to give <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> a 2-0 win over Holy Cross.<br />
Men’s tennis freshman Brian Mikkelson won the Flight #2<br />
Singles at the UConn Invitational without losing a set.<br />
OCTOBER<br />
October 1: Men’s soccer junior Graciano Brito won his second<br />
Brine/NEC Player of the Week award of the season and<br />
his first ECAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.<br />
Women’s soccer freshman Lauren Peacock was named the<br />
Brine/NEC Rookie of the Week.
