<strong>NCAA</strong> First and Second Rounds at Miami • <strong>May</strong> 9-10, <strong>2008</strong><br />

finished 28-3.<br />

Men’s ice hockey junior Greg Holt’s four points led six<br />

Bobcats with multiple points as the <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> men’s hockey<br />

team completed an ECAC Hockey First Round sweep of<br />

Brown with a 7-1 victory.<br />

Mike Lamagna, Garret Kerr, Ted Dimond, Bill Hayes and<br />

Sean Endicott all scored as <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> defeated Providence,<br />

5-4.<br />

Baseball freshmen Ben Farina and Tyler Turgeon hit their<br />

first career homeruns while senior Pete Kummerfeldt also<br />

hit a round-tripper as <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> split a doubleheader with<br />

Davidson, 15-10 and 10-7.<br />

March 10: Baseball senior John Delaney was named the<br />

Akadema/Northeast Conference Player of the Week.<br />

March 11: Men’s basketball senior DeMario Anderson’s<br />

half-court buzzer beater against Central Connecticut was<br />

announced as a finalist for the Pontiac Game Changing<br />

Performance award.<br />

Men’s tennis freshman Brian Mikkelson was named the<br />

Prince/Northeast Conference Player of the Week.<br />

March 12: Men’s lacrosse senior Sean Endicott scored three<br />

goals as <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> beat Marist, 10-7, to improve to 5-0.<br />

Garret Kerr tallied two goals and an assist.<br />

March 14: Baseball sophomore Brian Monack scored the<br />

winning run while freshman Tyler Turgeon drove in two<br />

runs in a 15-10 win over Michigan State.<br />

March 15: Dan Henningson and Jamie Bates scored twice<br />

while Ben Nelson added a goal and four assists as <strong>Quinnipiac</strong><br />

answered an 11-0 drubbing by Harvard in the first game<br />

of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals with a convincing 7-4<br />

win over the Crimson to even the series, 1-1.<br />

Men’s lacross junior Gary Messina scored twice and assisted<br />

on a third goal as <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> edged Hartford, 8-5.<br />

Garret Kerr added two goals in the win.<br />

March 18: After losing to Long Island in the NEC Quarterfinals,<br />

women’s basketball was able to secure a first<br />

round home game for the Women’s National Invitational<br />

Tournament (WNIT). <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> lost in the game to Iona.<br />

March 22: Baseball junior Andy <strong>May</strong>er picked up his 15th<br />

career win with a 7-3 victory over Holy Cross. Senior<br />

John Delaney was 3-for-5 with a two-run double and<br />

homerun.<br />

Softball beats Dartmouth, 5-0, and Stony Brook, 2-1.<br />

Against Dartmouth, Carolyn Schmolz held Dartmouth<br />

to one hit over seven innings while Brianna Sloane and<br />

Angela Casella each collected two hits.<br />

March 25: Unbeaten Men’s lacrosse claims the top spot in<br />

the Turfer Athletic New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse<br />

Association Coaches Poll.<br />

Baseball senior Tyler Brett picked up the win against<br />

Army in a 5-2 victory after allowing one run on five hits<br />

over six innings. Freshman Joe Poletsky was 3-for-4 with<br />

a RBI.<br />

March 26: Senior Danilo Schiavon was picked to play in<br />

the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League Division I<br />

Senior All-Star Game.<br />

Field Hockey was selected as one of 44 teams nationally<br />

to receive the 2007 ZAG/National Field Hockey Coaches<br />

Association National Academic Team Award. In addition,<br />

10 Bobcats also qualified for the Division I National Academic<br />

Squad. <strong>Quinnipiac</strong>, with a cumulative GPA of 3.29,<br />

was one of three Northeast Conference schools to receive<br />

the award.<br />

March 28: Women’s lacrosse junior Ashley Valentine<br />

scored four goals to help <strong>Quinnipiac</strong> to their first NEC<br />

win of the year, 14-6, over Long Island.<br />

March 29: Men’s ice hockey senior captain Jamie Bates<br />

was signed by the Tampe Bay Lightning’s AHL affiliate,<br />

the Norfolk (Va.) Admirals. In his first game with the<br />

Admirals, Bates picked up an assist to help his new team<br />

to a win.<br />

Men’s outdoor track senior Keith Bushey finishes 7th
