Some of the patent applications that are as of the year 2000 pending are:<br />
● Preparation of an anti-diabetic herbal drug from the plants Trichopus<br />
Zeylanicus, Withania Somnifera and Piper longum. The patent has been filed<br />
by TBGRI, India, at the Indian Patent office in 1996.<br />
● Japanese applications, filed at the PCT (Patent Co-operation Treaty) in the<br />
year 2000 are related to the use of ashwagandha as skin ointment for<br />
cosmetic purpose.<br />
