This tour is designed for <strong>the</strong> visitor to experience <strong>the</strong> majesty of <strong>the</strong><br />

Yangtze River as well as <strong>the</strong> treasures of its main cities in one<br />

comprehensive programme. Experience <strong>the</strong> dramatic natural landscapes<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Three Gorges as you sail along one of <strong>the</strong> world’s longest rivers.<br />

Commencing with Shanghai and <strong>the</strong>n a four night Yangtze River cruise,<br />

<strong>the</strong> tour includes historical Xian, Beijing for <strong>the</strong> Great Wall and<br />

Forbidden City and a visit to <strong>the</strong> Panda Reserve in Chengdu.<br />

Days 1-3: <strong>UK</strong> - Shanghai<br />

Fly to Shanghai and in <strong>the</strong> evening sample<br />

traditional Shanghai cuisine. We visit <strong>the</strong><br />

beautiful Yu Gardens, Old Town, <strong>the</strong> Bund,<br />

Shanghai Museum, cross <strong>the</strong> Great Nanpu<br />

Bridge and tour Pudong. We explore <strong>the</strong><br />

restored 1920’s style “Shikumen” buildings<br />

and enjoy a stunning Huangpu River<br />

evening cruise.<br />

Days 4-7: Shanghai - Yangtze<br />

River Cruise<br />

Fly to Yichang and transfer (approx 1 hr)<br />

to board our river cruise vessel for <strong>the</strong><br />

next 4 nights. Enjoy a tour of <strong>the</strong> Three<br />

Gorges Dam before cruising on <strong>the</strong><br />

mighty Yangtze River, passing through <strong>the</strong><br />

spectacular Three Gorges and <strong>the</strong> equally<br />

dramatic Shennong Stream or <strong>the</strong> Lesser<br />

Three Gorges.<br />

Day 8: Chongqing - Chengdu<br />

Disembark in Chongqing and drive to<br />

Chengdu for an overnight stay.<br />

Days 9-10:<br />

Chengdu Panda Reserve - Xian<br />

Visit <strong>the</strong> famous Panda Reserve to see<br />

<strong>the</strong>se endearing animals before flying to<br />

<strong>the</strong> historic city of Xian for 2 nights.<br />

explore <strong>the</strong> Islamic food markets.<br />

Later fly to Beijing, for 3 nights.<br />

Days 12-13: Beijing<br />

We have two days to enjoy everything<br />

Beijing has to offer. Our welcoming<br />

dinner includes <strong>the</strong> delicacy ‘Peking Duck’.<br />

Next day we visit Tiananmen Square and<br />

pass Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum to <strong>the</strong><br />

Forbidden City, <strong>the</strong> largest and best<br />

preserved collection of ancient buildings,<br />

as well as <strong>the</strong> exquisite Summer Palace.<br />

We walk on <strong>the</strong> Great Wall and tour <strong>the</strong><br />

unique Temple of Heaven. Our evening<br />

entertainment will be a fascinating<br />

Chinese Acrobatic Show.<br />

Day 14: Beijing - <strong>UK</strong><br />

Transfer to <strong>the</strong> airport to board our flight<br />

to <strong>the</strong> <strong>UK</strong> arriving home later <strong>the</strong> same<br />

day filled with happy memories.<br />
