The fabulous Nine Villages Valley is as featured on the BBC holiday
programme in November 2006, as well as the Oscar winning film
“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, Cinemas’s photographic
masterpiece “Hero” and “House of Flying Daggers”. We are also
awed by the natural beauty of Sichuan Province, the Grand
Buddha at Leshan, the Terracotta Warriors, the Great Wall and
Chengdu’s Panda Reserve.
Days 1-4: UK - Shanghai - Wuzhen
Fly to Shanghai where a welcoming dinner
of traditional Shanghai cuisine awaits. On
Day 3 we take an excursion to picturesque
Wuzhen and on Day 4 explore Yu Gardens,
the Old Town, the Shanghai Museum and
the Bund with its grand early 1900’s style
architecture. In the evening enjoy a stunning
Huangpu River Cruise, where we view the
old and new Shanghai.
Days 5-6: Chengdu - Mianyang
Fly to Chengdu. Our welcoming dinner will
be of traditional Sichuan cuisine. Visit the
famous Giant Panda Reserve to admire
these adorable creatures and the Sanxingdui
Museum, home to many significant cultural
relics. Continue onwards to Mianyang.
Days 7-8: Nine Villages Valley
Travel by coach to the breathtaking
Nine Villages Valley (Jiuzhaigou), a botanical
gallery that is heavily forested and home to
many protected species.The entire valley
presents a seemingly never-ending display of
stunning natural scenery that will inspire any
budding photographer.
Days 9-10: Nine Villages - Chengdu
We journey by coach to Mao County and
en-route visit the Huanglong Temple where
coloured pools intertwine, producing a
striking display. Return to Chengdu and visit
the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project.

Day 11: Chengdu - Leshan
Travel by coach to Leshan, home to the
largest stone-carved Buddhist statue in the
world. Work began on this impressive Buddha
in 713AD and took 90 years to finish.
Days 12-13: Xian
We fly to Xian, where we will enjoy a
traditional ‘Shui Jiao’ welcoming dinner. The
following day view the life-size Terracotta
Warriors and one of the best preserved
ancient city walls in China, as well as strolling
through the lively Muslim Quarter. We
complete the day with a performance of
traditional Tang Dynasty dancing.
Days 14-16: Xian - Beijing
Visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda and the
renowned Shaanxi Museum. Afterwards fly
to Beijing, to visit the Temple of Heaven
and enjoy a sample of ‘Peking Duck’. Enjoy
sightseeing at the Forbidden City, the largest
and most preserved collection of ancient
buildings.Then stroll along Tiananmen Square,
the world’s largest public square, past Chaiman
Mao’s Mausoleum, before enjoying a fascinating
Chinese acrobatic show. Next day we will
walk on the Great Wall and visit the exquisite
Summer Palace, a former Imperial garden.
Day 17: Beijing - UK
Board our return flight to the UK arriving
home later the same day, filled with many
happy memories.
