China’s vast east coast, <strong>the</strong> “Pacific Rim” is where you will find <strong>the</strong>se<br />
great cities. From Beijing in <strong>the</strong> north, travel south to cosmopolitan<br />
Shanghai and on that journey you will discover <strong>the</strong> former ancient<br />
capital of Xian. Break your journey with visits to delightful<br />
Hangzhou and Guilin whose smaller charms will capture you<br />
equally. We will also visit Mt Huang - China’s holiest mountain.<br />
Days 1-2: <strong>UK</strong> - Beijing<br />
Fly to Beijing. Enjoy a welcoming dinner<br />
which includes <strong>the</strong> speciality Peking Duck.<br />
Days 3-4: Beijing<br />
Stroll in Tiananmen Square, <strong>the</strong> world’s<br />
largest public square. Continue on to <strong>the</strong><br />
treasure filled Forbidden City. The following<br />
day’s highlight will be your chance to “Walk”<br />
<strong>the</strong> Great Wall and will also include a tour<br />
of <strong>the</strong> unique Temple of Heaven.<br />
Days 5-6: Beijing - Xian<br />
Some all-important shopping in <strong>the</strong> morning<br />
at <strong>the</strong> bustling Markets and <strong>the</strong>n a visit to <strong>the</strong><br />
Summer Palace. Later fly to Xian <strong>the</strong> former<br />
imperial capital for 2 nights. In <strong>the</strong> morning<br />
you will visit <strong>the</strong> Terracotta Warriors, built<br />
over 2000 years ago to accompany Emperor<br />
Qin Shihuang into <strong>the</strong> afterlife.Then on to<br />
<strong>the</strong> historic City Wall that encircles <strong>the</strong> City.<br />
A stroll through <strong>the</strong> lively Muslim Quarter is<br />
next with a visit to <strong>the</strong> Great Mosque and<br />
<strong>the</strong> Islamic food markets. A Tang Dynasty<br />
dancing show tonight.<br />
Day 7: Xian - Hangzhou<br />
We visit <strong>the</strong> Little Wild Goose Pagoda and<br />
Shaanxi Museum <strong>the</strong>n fly to Hangzhou.<br />
Day 8: Hangzhou<br />
Visit <strong>the</strong> Temple of Inspired Seclusion and<br />
<strong>the</strong> Six Harmonies Pagoda. Enjoy a relaxing<br />
afternoon on beautiful West Lake.<br />

Days 9-10: Hangzhou - Mt Huang<br />
By coach first to a true natural wonder,<br />
Mt Huang. To <strong>the</strong> Summit by Cable Car for<br />
fabulous views of strange rock formations<br />
and thousand year old trees wrea<strong>the</strong>d in<br />
mists that have inspired countless artists.<br />
Spend 2 nights at Mt Huang; one night at<br />
<strong>the</strong> summit and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r in <strong>the</strong> town of<br />
Tunxi at <strong>the</strong> mountain's foot.<br />
Days 11-12: Mt Huang - Shanghai<br />
Fly to Shanghai, China’s ‘Paris of <strong>the</strong> East’<br />
for a 2 night stay. Enjoy a welcoming dinner<br />
of sumptuous Shanghai cuisine. Next<br />
morning visit <strong>the</strong> delightful Yu Gardens<br />
<strong>the</strong>n to <strong>the</strong> Old Town, <strong>the</strong> Shanghai<br />
Museum and <strong>the</strong> famous Bund. In <strong>the</strong><br />
evening we take a cruise along <strong>the</strong><br />
panoramic Huangpu River.<br />
Days 13-14: Shanghai - Guilin<br />
See <strong>the</strong> unique “Shikumen” Buildings<br />
(1920’s style) before travelling over <strong>the</strong><br />
Nanpu Bridge to see <strong>the</strong> Pudong Area.<br />
Afterwards fly on to <strong>the</strong> beautiful city of<br />
Guilin for 2 nights. In <strong>the</strong> morning you<br />
will be off on a wonderful cruise on <strong>the</strong><br />
Li River; admire <strong>the</strong> stunning limestone<br />
columns that tower above <strong>the</strong> river<br />
creating magical landscapes.<br />
Days 15-16: Guilin - <strong>UK</strong><br />
Visit <strong>the</strong> stunning Reed Flute Caves and<br />
Mt Diecai before an overnight flight home.
