Identification: 7.5″ – Rust-colored crown, white<br />

throat, dark gray undersides, and greenish-yellow<br />

upperparts.<br />

Feeding: “Rakes” leaves and soil to expose seeds,<br />

insects.<br />

Habitat: <strong>Sagebrush</strong> steppe, woodland, riparian.<br />

Nests on the ground or in shrubs in thick sagebrush or<br />

wooded stream edges.<br />

Conservation: Stable. Maintain older, dense stands<br />

of sagebrush.<br />
