The Sagebrush Sea
A Mosaic of Habitats
There are more than 120 million acres of sagebrush
landscape in the Intermountain West. Of that, 45% is
public land, managed by agencies such as the USDI
Bureau of Land Management and the USDA Forest
Service. The rest is in private land ownership, so the
people who live and work in the region have great
opportunities to be part of conservation.
