In Table 15, a two stage assessment has been carried out based on the identified sources, pathways<br />

<strong>and</strong> receptors. Initially, the column designated as ‘Potential Consequence of Contaminant - Receptor<br />

Linkage’, gives an indication of the sensitivity of a given receptor to a particular source or contaminant<br />

of concern under consideration. It is a worst case classification <strong>and</strong> is based on full exposure via the<br />

particular linkage being examined.<br />

5.4 Risk assessment summary<br />

The qualitative risk assessment identified a high risk to construction workers during demolition <strong>and</strong><br />

excavations from the historical or current bulk storage <strong>and</strong> use of hydrocarbons, potentially asbestos<br />

containing structures <strong>and</strong> equipment, uncontrolled filling <strong>and</strong> electrical transformers. Assessed risk to<br />

other critical receptors for these <strong>and</strong> other activities is considered to range from negligible to moderate<br />

<strong>and</strong> is not believed to represent a significant environmental concern to the site. Contamination<br />

potential for individual site properties, in accordance with the Victoria DSE Potentially Contaminated<br />

L<strong>and</strong>, General Practice Note, 2005 (DSE, 2005) are summarized in Table 16 <strong>and</strong> indicated on<br />

Figure 4 presented in Appendix A.<br />
