No throw ins - No adults... on the Field at the Oval..
This season 83 teams are participating in
the Whole of Football Plan Fun Football skills
sessions and games at the Oval for 6 7 and 8
year olds. There are an additional eight teams in
the 6th grade activity when compared to last
year which is positive in regard to growth.
Two seven minute skills
sessions precede the games – where
coaches execute fundamental skills
sessions. They can cover :
General Movement – developing movement
traits in players fundamental to playing.
Football Coordination – teaching players to
use the ball with all parts of their body.
Football Technique – developing skills such
as dribbling and passing.
After the skills sessions the players are
generally raring to go – so they can show off
some of their footie talent in front of family and
friends. This year there are no throw in’s
(replaced by kick – ins) and opposition players
have to retreat to halfway when a team takes
a goalkick.
Wahoooo !
Also – we want adults off the field – one
coach patrolling each sideline works just as well –
and each coach can assist the play when required. It’s a brand new challenge for many at the
Oval – kids trying their hardest to get possession of the ball - then dribble, pass or shoot – let
alone having to navigate around an adult who is standing just a few metres in front of his team’s
goal – checking his text messages !! It does happen !!
