Clipboards, Midgets and Streakers...
It was clipboard country writ large - at Sunnyvale, where the
Worlds Footie Assessors assembled to assess each other,
and focussed on tall thin red head Dan who controlled the
RW v GI womens match at Sunnyvale.
No pressure of course, just a concerto of scribbling
pens every time Dan blue his whistle, no pressure of
course.New Zealand Football Referee Development
Manager Ken Wallace was in attendance - and of course
Rab
he had the biggest clip board of all.
But setting standards for NZ Refs, Peter O’Leary will add Olympic Games
to his formidable refereeing resume. The Whangarei school teacher has officiated
at eight FIFA events including four FIFA Club World Cups, two FIFA U-20 World
Cups, an U-17 World Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa where he
was a fourth official. Well done Peter.
Club treasurers everywhere will also applaud Auckland having booked a
FIFA Club World Cup spot. New Zealand side Auckland City will fly the Oceania
flag at the FIFA Club World Cup once more after beating Tahitian opponents Tefana
3-1 on aggregate in the final of the 2012 O-League.
Go Auckland ! The better they do - the more we get...
Its been a great run of Autumn weather, Wilson James, the famous Fsouth Met
Man advises me its the best run of weather since he played pre-war school
football. And the Midget matches at the Oval on Sat. morning were terrific.
Blue sky and happy wee faces.
Interesting that ‘Throw Ins’ have been
http://www.footballsouth.co.nz/
dumped and re-starts are now kicked in.
Sensible fine tuning that - and the quality of
some of those tiny kids augurs well for
fitba’s future in this area.
Of course the big kids ( students )
are incorrigible - witness the naked runners
round the Gardens on Saturday, tsk, tsk,
BVG even spotted where the Streakers
carry their wallets, credit cards
and phones...
