• Accurate weight measurement at admission and follow<strong>in</strong>g restoration <strong>of</strong> full hydration<br />

• Simultaneous plasma and ur<strong>in</strong>e sodium and creat<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>e at admission and repeated regularly<br />

• Plasma bicarbonate, calcium, chloride and phosphate<br />

• Simultaneous serum and ur<strong>in</strong>ary osmolality<br />

• Sodium concentration <strong>of</strong> gastric contents<br />
