Arrival in Moreton-in-Marsh and transfer to Chipping<br />

Campden.<br />

Monday<br />

We meander through honey-toned stone villages to<br />

Batsford House, once home to the Mitford sisters. We<br />

walk through the Arboretum to watch a falconry<br />

display.<br />

Oxford<br />

Tuesday<br />

Gently rolling hills bring us to renowned<br />

Hidcote Manor Gardens, to enjoy the nineteen<br />

'outdoor rooms' which make up this<br />

vast garden. After lunch, we walk on to<br />

lovely Bourton on the Water.<br />

Wednesday<br />

We walk to Stow-on-the-Wold ('where the<br />

wind blows cold') and on to the pretty<br />

Upper and Lower Slaughter. A local farmer<br />

tells us about Cotswold farming and introduces<br />

us to his sheep dog.<br />

Thursday<br />

We walk through the Duke of Marlborough's<br />

estate surrounding the awe-inspiring<br />

Blenheim Palace. We visit the quiet village<br />

graveyard where Sir Winston Churchill is<br />

buried and stroll beside the River Thames to<br />

that 'city of dreaming spires', Oxford.<br />

Terrain: Stroll through<br />

countryside, gardens, pretty<br />

We explore this ancient center of learning, as<br />

we walk through the heart of the University<br />

to lunch beside the river. In the afternoon,<br />

we try the traditional Oxford pastime of<br />

Punting, gliding along the river to an historic<br />

pub for a traditional English Afternoon Tea.<br />

We return to our hotel for our Farewell<br />

Dinner.<br />
