Itinerary
Sunday
We rendezvous in Paris and transfer to the barge
in a private air-conditioned minibus. Welcome
Aboard with champagne and canapés before our
Welcome Dinner.
Overnight Mooring: Tanlay
Monday
A morning cruise through the Burgundian
countryside to Lezinnes, with the option to take a
leisurely walk along the towpath. After lunch on
board we visit the 16th Century Renaissance-style
Château de Tanlay for a guided tour of this
beautiful castle.

uilt in 1930 to carry freight on the
canals, the barge was converted into a
hotel and now has seven luxury cabins
complete with marble-tiled bathrooms, and
public rooms including a saloon/dining room
and sun deck with Jacuzzi hot tub.
Tuesday
A canal-side walk passes ancient villages and the
vineyards of Chablis. After lunch, we take a late
afternoon walk through forests and slopes
covered in vineyards ablaze with autumn colors.
We visit the 13th century Hotel Dieu.

Wednesday
We visit Noyers sur Serein, one of the most
beautiful villages in France, to enjoy the
wonderful market. We wander the medieval
streets and ramparts before returning to the
barge for lunch. In the afternoon we enjoy a lazy
cruise or take a circular walk through the
Burgundian countryside.
Overnight Mooring: Ravieres
Thursday
We walk through woodland and rolling fields to a
ruined castle. We visit the renowned Abbey de
Fontenay founded by St Bernard in 1118. A late
afternoon walk brings us to the ancient town of
Montbard.

Friday
We pass fields of Charolais cattle and walk
through the hamlet of Benoisey to Grignan to
rejoin the barge, with stunning vistas across the
valley of the Brenne and the Canal du Bourgogne.
We visit the fascinating walled hilltop village of
Flavigny sur Ozerain, where the film ‘Chocolat’
was made. We return to the barge for the
Captain’s Farewell Dinner .
Overnight Mooring: Venarey les Laume
Saturday
After breakfast, we disembark the barge and take
a private transfer to Paris.

This itinerary may operate in reverse
according to the barge scheduling.

Departure: Paris
Terrain: The soft landscape,
low hills and level towpaths
skirting canals make for
easy walking.
