Sunday<br />

We meet in our lovely seaview hotel overlooking<br />

the dramatic coastline, for our Welcome Dinner<br />

and Introductory Talk.<br />

Overnight: Fowey, Talland Bay Hotel<br />

Creeks, Coves<br />

& Coastal Trails<br />

hidden church of St Just in Roseland. We then<br />

cross the peninsula to lunch in the harbor village<br />

of Portscatho. We continue along the South West<br />

Coast Path to the Percuil River to return by ferry<br />

to our seaside hotel.<br />

Overnight: St Mawes, Hotel Tresanton<br />

Thursday<br />

From St Mawes we board the ferry for Falmouth,<br />

where we join a coastal trail for our walk to<br />

Maenporth Beach and lunch overlooking a cove.<br />

A hike along the sparkling Helford River takes us<br />

to the world-famous Trebah Gardens.<br />

Friday<br />

We cross the river by ferry to the tiny village of<br />

Helford, walk to the St Anthony-in-Meneage<br />

church, standing at the water's edge, and follow<br />

the creek to the exquisite village of Manaccan<br />

for lunch in a thatched pub. We go on to<br />

Daphne du Maurier's 'Frenchman's Creek' and<br />

home by ferry to Mawnan Smith for our<br />

Farewell Dinner.<br />

Saturday<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Wayfarers</strong> provide a transfer to Truro Rail<br />

Station.<br />

Monday<br />

From our hotel, we join the South West Coast Path<br />

where our trail takes us to the setting of Daphne<br />

du Maurier's most famous novel, Rebecca.<br />

Overnight: Fowey, Talland Bay Hotel<br />

Tuesday<br />

We walk through the Georgian harbor of<br />

Charlestown and head off the beaten track to<br />

Trenarren. From the secluded beach of Hallane we<br />

make our way to Pentewan, once an important<br />

harbor for the local china clay industry. This<br />

afternoon we head inland to discover the Lost<br />

Gardens of Heligan.<br />

Overnight: St Mawes, Hotel Tresanton<br />

Wednesday<br />

We visit St Mawes Castle, built by King Henry VIII<br />

in the 1540s, before following the River Fal to the<br />

Arrival: St Austell Rail Station<br />

Departure: Truro Rail Station<br />

Terrain: Contoured coastal paths, riverbank<br />

and estuary trails, with undulations<br />

of 150-250 ft and occasional short steeper<br />

climbs and descents.<br />
