AUGUST 1775 1207<br />

Boxes, one <strong>of</strong> them compleat with Ball, 3 Powder Horns; all which<br />

we took out <strong>of</strong> the Schooner except the C<strong>of</strong>fee and Cocoa; sent<br />

2 petty Officers and 8 Men on board the Schooner to take Charge<br />

<strong>of</strong> her: fired 2 swivels and brought a Sloop too. Little Wind<br />

and Sultry Wr P M at 7 took a Sloop with 232 Bags <strong>of</strong> C<strong>of</strong>fee<br />

on board, sent a Mids and 4 Men on board her.3<br />

Tuesday August 22d 1775<br />

Whereas there are several <strong>of</strong>fenders against the Continental Association now<br />

confined at Wilmington, it is resolved that an Express be immediately sent from<br />

this Town to Wilmington, requiring the Committee <strong>of</strong> Wilmington to deliver all<br />

such Delinquents as may be in Custody to a Guard directed to receive the same<br />

and safely to convey such delinquents from County to County in the most expeditious<br />

manner, that they may be brought before this Congress in order that<br />

their Demerits may be strictly enquired into, with such papers as were found in<br />

their C~stody.~<br />

2. <strong>The</strong>re is no further reference to this subject in the journal, so the presumption is that<br />

Wilmington had no prisoners to forward. <strong>The</strong> actions <strong>of</strong> committees in cases <strong>of</strong> violation<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Continental Association was to post them for the proper resentment <strong>of</strong> the<br />

people.<br />

Capt. [Clement] Lampriere Spared me a barrel <strong>of</strong> Pork & a Barrel <strong>of</strong> ship<br />

Bread, for the use <strong>of</strong> the Melitia when CalJd here to Guard the powder, but the<br />

former not being used, was omited to be put on board the scooner that carried the<br />

powder, have therefore put it on board a Scooner <strong>of</strong> Mr. Josiah Smith's & Requested<br />

<strong>of</strong> him to Receive it for you - I am with Esteem Sir [&.]<br />
