ELLISON BOULTERS CE ACADEMY Football Team LCFC Stand Up Speak Up Tournament Champions 2013 Saturday 20 April 2013 Game 1 Vs Bishop King The team started the tournament quickly going 1-0 up through some fantastic one touch football following a throw-in. Ben G was on hand to finish the move with a half-volley from just outside the box. Ellison Boulters dominated possession and showered the opposition goal with plenty of shots only to see the ‘keeper in great form. In the final minutes, Bishop King scored from a long goal-kick which travelled behind our defence, who were caught on the wrong side, and the opposition striker tucked the ball under the on-rushing goal keeper. Final score: 1-1 Game 2 Vs SUSU Representative Team With the knowledge that the team would have to win their remaining games and qualification potentially resting on goal difference, Ellison Boulters started the game quickly, going up 3-0 inside the first 3 minutes through Oliver W, Joseph S and Ravi Y-P. Again the opposition ‘keeper pulled off some fantastic saves as Ellison Boulters controlled possession. As the game passed Ravi Y-P, Joseph S and Hugo N(2) would score again to ensure an emphatic win. At the other end, Ruari N had a fantastic game ensuring that Mason H was a spectator in goal. Final score: 7-0 Game 3 Vs Monks Abbey Having heard that Bishop King had drawn with Monks Abbey in the previous game, Ellison Boulters knew that a win would see them clinch the coveted first place in the table and a place in the tournament final. Again, Ellison Boulters started brightly with three shots on goal, however Mason H at the other end pulled off a couple of magnificent saves to keep the game goalless. Then came the telling moment when after a corner, a shot on goal from Ellison Boulters was handled by a Monks Abbey player inside the box. hard and straight as it came off the underside of the bar and nestled in the back of the net leaving the ‘keeper helpless. With this goal Ellison Boulters grew in confidence and dominated the game scoring another through Ravi Y-P on the counter-attack. In the closing stages, a couple of timely interceptions and tackles meant that Ellison Boulters kept another clean sheet. Final score: 2-0 Final Vs St. Faith & St. Martin After scouting the opposition in their final game, Ellison Boulters knew that a disciplined and tactical display would see them lift the cup. Every player gave 100% chasing and harrying, not giving St Faith’s a second on the ball. Once again Ellison Boulters kept possession and pressed the opposition high up the pitch limiting them to long range shots. Halfway through the game a goal kick from Joseph S bounced into the opposition area where a deft flick from Ben G saw the ball loop over the stranded ‘keeper and into the back of the net. From there on the pressure came but Ellison Boulters remained resilient with Mason H tipping a long range shot over the top of the bar and showing a safe pair of hands. Ellison Boulters closed out the game sensibly taking their time and keeping possession. A counter attack in the closing moments would have seen Ellison Boulters score again, however the chance went just wide. Ellison Boulters celebrated the victory and their tournament win with the captain lifting the trophy.
