The diagram above represents a high-level organisational design indicating the relationship<br />
between the Board, the CEO, senior managers and operational personnel responsible for<br />
the functional areas. Further unpacking of the organisational structures and detailed<br />
descriptions of posts in each functional area will form part of the business planning process<br />
to be spearheaded by the CEO as part of the establishment process.<br />
8.1 Staffing requirements<br />
8.1.1 Office of the CEO<br />
Implementation of the strategy and business plan of the <strong>Pongola</strong>-UmzimzuluCMA will be<br />
driven by an executive management team lead by the CEO. The Office of the CEO will<br />
consist of the CEO, Company Secretary, a compliance officer, two public relations and<br />
marketing officers, as well as the Personal Administrator to the CEO. The Office of the CEO is<br />
the strategy hub – providing strategic guidance, and shaping the direction of the <strong>Pongola</strong>-<br />
Umzimzulu CMA. Strategic branding and marketing for the CMA will take place in this office,<br />
including the CEO. The Company Secretary will play a dual role. The first role is that of<br />
providing strategic legal support to the Board. The second role is providing support to the<br />
executive management team of the CMA and managing the legal affairs of the CMA. Whilst<br />
the Company Secretary reports directly to the Board, he/she will operate at the same grade/<br />
post level as executive managers that report directly to the CEO. The Company Secretary<br />
will be supported by a Compliance Officer.<br />
The CEO will convene and an Executive <strong>Management</strong> Committee that will strategically guide<br />
the operational aspects of the CMA. This committee will consist of the CEO, the Company<br />
Secretary and the Executive Managers of the CMA line functions.<br />
