Case study First-class sustainable and progressive services The University of Greenwich was fi rst out of 145 in the People & Planet Green League 2012, receiving the highest score ever achieved by a university. The university’s sustainable food policy was considered an example of best practice in the higher education sector. Louise Hazan, lead researcher for the People & Planet Green League, said: “Congratulations to all the staff and students at the University of Greenwich for their role in creating one of the greenest universities the UK has ever seen. Their success in reducing carbon emissions, integrating sustainability throughout the curriculum and fi nding creative ways to engage staff and students in the transition to sustainability is exemplary.” The Drill Hall Library at Medway, which is shared by three universities and incorporates innovative social learning spaces with state-of-the-art IT facilities, was highly commended in the Society of College, National and University Library Buildings Awards 2010.
