Children’s Services Scrutiny Forum – 31 January 2010 i) Youth Centres; j) Buses ; k) Localised central <strong>services</strong>; 7.3(a) additional information l) Poverty – Education, peer pressure, hunger, neglect. ; m) Transport Time Tables; n) Child Care; o) Positive press – young people; p) Mobile Units; and q) Home visits Feedback from Children under 12 years old:- The children took part in an exercise involving the following:- This is me - the children decorated a pre-prepared figure to represent themselves, things that they do, want to do, are proud of etc. This is my family – the children then placed their figure in the middle of a sheet and arranged pre-prepared figures around it to represent family relationships, facilitating discussion about who makes up their family and what sort of intervention they may have been aware of to help with issues that they have had as a family. This is who helps my family – the children used pre-prepared cards to select agencies that might be involved with them and their family to facilitate a discussion about how they may be able to identify the Think Family approach as it relates to their own experience. The feedback from the children will be circulated at the meeting. Feedback from Group 3 (Adults): (1) What was good about the service you received? All workers made me feel welcome; (c) Confidence boost attending parenting courses, helped me deal with problems; (d) Was explained well; (e) Everyone should have opportunity to do parenting course; (f) Improves communication s kills / confidence; (g) Helps other relationships; and (h) Gave me strategies to talk properly together to teenager and husband – has improved all our family life (2) What would have made the service you received better? (a) Deliver service earlier; (b) If done early helps with other children; (c) Involve teenagers in courses to help with anger management, choices and consequences; (d) Funding for crèche - reduced attendance; (e) Word of mouth improves attendance; (f) Stigma – must be a bad parent if attend parenting course – needs name changing; and (g) Inform ation should be handed out by m idwives (3) What would have happened if you had not received a service?
