Congratulations to all of our champions. With regards to the HAPU points for the HW Hayward Cup, Tikapa – through greater participation numbers and some great relay swimming – managed to retain the cup with a total of 695 points, Ohinemuri accumulated 617 points, Waihou were third on 393 and Piako fourth with 388 points. A summary of the points accumulated throughout the day is supplied for your information. 2011 Swimming Sports O P T W Participation Points 222 134 261 169 Places Points 327 186 330 180 Relays Points 68 68 104 44 Totals 617 388 695 393 Recent Achievements Shooting Gavin Wenham has continued his success from 2010 into this year with more success at the Thames Club Championships and the North Island DTL Club Championships. At the Thames Club Champs he gained the High Overall in the Ball Trap. At the North Island DTL Champs he was the High Overall Junior in the Triples as well as the High Overall Junior over the 2 days. He was also selected for the North Island Junior Team for the North / South match that will take place at the nationals in March. Hockey Representatives Congratulations to Zoe Summers, Danielle Bath and Kayla Povey for their selection for the Midlands U15 summer camp squad. As a result they played in a curtain raiser to the Blacksticks game that was played in Hamilton on the 18th February. – well done girls. Triathlon Sophie Pulford has shown her emerging talent at the recent Contact Triathlon series in Taupo. Competing in the womens 3:9:3 race (300 metre swim, 9k bike and 3 k run) she outclassed the opposition to win by over a minute in a time of 34 mins 21 seconds. Sophie also recently competed in the ‘Bev May 2 day Cycle Race in Morrinsville and won the U15 grade by 46 seconds. Congratulations Sophie. Volleyball Lunchtime volleyball is operating every Tuesday and Thursday in the school gym for the remainder of this term. Any students wanting to take part just turn up – you must be wearing PE gear though. 11
