Mrs Uerata has been working very hard in The
Hub covering all the new books, the smiles
from the kids when these books go on the
shelves is second to none.
The chess tournament is well under way for
this term and with 32 players we have a few
games to get through for the 1st round. Lovely
to see the Year 9’s competing and some even
teaching themselves through books so they
can join. I hope to be hosting another
tournament inviting outside schools to
compete with Chess Kids some time in the
near future.
The Hub as per usual is buzzing at lunchtimes
even though the heat has been extreme at
times. It doesn’t seem to worry the kids
“chilling out”, mingling and meeting new
people.
I have also managed to grab a deal on a new
set of World Books (encyclopaedias) for half
price. Ours are well used and eight years old,
the good news is that we get to donate the old
set to Hockey for their book fair to sell, so a
win-win situation which is always a good
thing.
Please remember we are always looking for
old newspaper and magazines for all
departments at school, we never seem to
have enough, our arms are always open for
these.
NCEA Endorsement Recognition Evening
An evening to recognise those students who have achieved
NCEA with Merit or Excellence will be held on Tuesday 1
March 7pm in the college hall. To achieve an endorsement
takes a lot of hard work and deserves this recognition.

We would prefer students to order their lunch. This can be
done at the beginning of school or at the Canteen at
Interval.
Students can be assured of getting what they want, they
have priority and avoid having to queue in the hot sun or
rain. I am only too pleased to provide any special requests
eg vegetarian.
