With today’s desire to achieve fast greens, turf surfaces are<br />
cut to low levels and such practices can create conditions<br />
that are beneficial to the establishment of moss.<br />
Current control options available have been limited to the<br />
applications of sulphate of iron but this is not a permanent<br />
solution as frequent re-treatments are required as only the top<br />
surface of the moss is affected.<br />
Mogeton is extremely effective for the targeted control of<br />
moss species on golf green and tees. These are the only<br />
surfaces on which it is recommended at present. To achieve<br />
the maximum effect, treatment with Mogeton should be<br />
applied when the moss is actively growing during the months<br />
when there are extended days of sunlight. The same applies<br />
to temperature and humidity as under such conditions moss<br />
will thrive and Mogeton is going to be at its most active.<br />
Mogeton will control the whole plant, not just the exposed<br />
parts. Following treatment the moss turns brown and will die. It<br />
can then be removed by scarifying.<br />
