Benefits Nine monterey County Charities
Hyatt Carmel Highlands, located at 121 Highlands Drive in the
Carmel Highlands, long known as the legendary location for culinary
talent and host of the world-famous Masters of Food and Wine will
serve as the lead sponsor and host of the opening event of the Big Sur
Food and Wine Festival.
Tickets are on sale now for $160 per person. Join them on
Thursday, November 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. for the Gateway to Big Sur
presented by the Hyatt Carmel Highlands and Big Sur Food and
Wine Festival. The Gateway to Big Sur entices the palate in a
celebration of local flair and regional flavor in the epicenter of
culinary innovation.
The Hyatt Carmel Highlands will be transformed into an
enchanting oasis featuring 37 vintners and menu tastings from 18
notable chefs.
Chefs include Adam Nichol – Grand Hyatt San Francisco,
Brandon Miller – Mundaka, Carmel; Cal Stamenov & Ben Spungin –
Bernardus, Carmel Valley; Cy Yontz – Rio Grill; Domingo Santamaria
– Deetjen’s, Big Sur; Frank Ostini – Hitching Post, Buellton; Greg
Lizza – Nepenthe, Big Sur; Greg Lopez – Hyatt Hotels Seattle and
Urbane; Jason Balestrieri – Cantinetta Luca, Carmel; Jerry Regester –
C Restaurant at Monterey Intercontinental; John Cox – Sierra Mar at
Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur; Kent Torrey – Cheese Shop of Carmel; Mark
Ayers – Cannery Row Brewing Company; Matt Bolton – Hyatt
Carmel Highlands; Phil Wojtocwiecz – Big Sur Bakery; Phillip Burrus

Winemakers from B Cellars, Birichino, Boekenoogen Vineyard,
Calera, Champagne Delamotte, Chanin, Chappellet, Cold Heaven,
Copain, Corison, Duckhorn, Fiddlehead, Galante Vineyards, Hirsch,
Justin, Kristi Lynn, Martines Wines, McIntyre Vineyards, Melville,
Miura, Paul Lato, Peay, Pelerin, Perception, Pisoni, Pride, Ramey,
ROAR, Roederer, Scarpetta, Sheldon, Siduri, Spottswoode, Talbott
and Wind Gap will represent.
Big Sur Food and Wine Festival benefits local Monterey County
charities. A portion of your ticket sales for the November 1 event will
support: Apple Pie School, Big Sur Charter School, Big Sur Health
Center, Big Sur Natural History Association, Big Sur Scholarship
Recipient, Captain Cooper School, Gazebo School at Esalen Institute,
Pacific Valley School and The Henry Miller Library.
One of the primary missions of the Big Sur Food & Wine Festival
is to donate a large portion of event proceeds to support local
nonprofits that benefit Health, Safety, Education and Arts. In
addition, it gives scholarships to talented Big Sur residents who
would greatly benefit themselves and the community through wine
and/or culinary education. In the last three years, the Big Sur Food &
Wine Festival raised over $65,000 for the Big Sur community.
