Pacific Lanes
Continued from page 9
Meanwhile, the bowling lanes
were busy busy on a Friday night.
Pacific Lanes is a great place to bring
the whole family and enjoy a night of
bowling and bonding.
After giving a good listen to
Jodee’s karaoke contestants, everybody
had their favorites picked out.
But it would be up to the judges, who
quickly exited to deliberate.
After some open mic karaoke,
and maybe a few line dances, Jodee
cleared her throat, ready to reveal the
winners for the evening. The whole
room leaned in with anticipation.
“We have a tie for 2nd Place,” she
says. Everyone exhaled.
O’Houlies
stage too. The bar was fully-decorated
for the season, festive decor hung from
the ceilings and walls and made it feel
even more fun somehow.
One hard-to-find perk that you’ll
enjoy at O'Houlies is Host Deanna’s
complete collection of LDs. For you
young ones, those are the original
Large Discs that we used to play, way
back when karaoke was new on the bar
scene 25 years ago. These discs feature
videos in the background and the
soundtracks are about as close to the
original songs as I've ever heard. It was
also refreshing to note that it wasn't
just one type of music being sung. Elder
singers didn’t sing just the oldies, and
JT closes in at 2nd after a singoff vs. Keli
Before announcing the 1st Place
winner, she ordered a sing-off between
JT and Keli. So, one by one, they took
their turn hoping to make enough of an
those more spry did not epitomize their
age group, singing the new. It was Pete
who sang "Under The Bridge", and Ben
followed with "Hoochie Coochie Man."
There was no specific genre of music
preferred here. Country, Pop, Rap, old
or new, doesn't matter, it’s all welcome
and applauded.
O'Houlies also has pulltabs, one
of my favorite Pub temptations.
Tucked away in a strip mall, you
may not notice O’Houlies, so open your
eyes to a brand new experience and
find out what you've been missing.
Tell Deanna you saw it here. Have
a blast!
Chanel puts on a good performance
Does a clean bathroom
matter to you?
Among your favorite karaoke hotspots, who's got the cleanest, most
luxurious bathrooms? We wanna know! Also, who's got the filthiest, dirtiest
bathrooms? We wanna know! (Email: editor@nwkaraokeguide.net) Thanks
in advance =)
Michelle Bernath: OK... hands down, the BEST washroom I've ever seen
is at the FOE Eagles 195 in Snohomish; it's super clean, very pretty.
Second is probably Norm's Place in Everett. Love the "Pepto-Bismol pink"
wall there!
The total WORST has to be the Oxford in Snohomish... I hate drinking
there because I never want to go into that Ladies room... GROSS!
Thanks for asking!
Alan Kolkow: Iron Horse Casino in Auburn keeps their restrooms clean
and stocked.
Paul Allen Tomicich: The Getaway (Mountlake Terrace) sparkles.
Karen Kringle: OMG the bathrooms at the 13th Ave Pub in Lynnwood are
AMAZING! Super clean and modern, plus they have TVs in there!
Keli sang her way into 3rd Place
impression on the
judges to squeek
out a victory.
As it was,
they both sounded
amazing, but
JT was chosen to
take 2nd Place.
Then she reveals
the contest winner...
Brittnee,
Host Jodee
who performed a sensuous and moving
rendition of At Last.
The Top 3 Finalists were handed
a prize, including gift certificates, and
it was over. Pacific Lanes first karaoke
contest. It was a great success, and
they want to continue to host a contest
each month. In fact, it’s been set for
the 2nd Friday of each month, which
makes it February 11th this month.
Come on out and support Jodee
and her karaoke show. Bring your
appetite, have some dinner in the bar
before karaoke starts up. Or better
yet, strap on a pair of shoes and get
out there and bowl a few frames.
Regular karaoke every Thursday,
Friday, and Saturday at 9pm start.
Pacific Lanes is located on the
corner of 72nd and Pacific Ave. in
Tacoma.
