Head of the Indian side to the Council VRS Natarajan said the meetings of the Indian
businessmen with their Syrian counterparts helped them get acquainted with the
investment opportunities available in Syria in he fields of infrastructure, technology and
small and medium-sized companies.
A memo of understanding was signed between the two sides, which provides for laying
the bases of the Council's works and exploring wider cooperation prospects between
Syria and India.
The memo also provides for cooperation in economic, services, cultural and social fields,
in addition to benefiting from the Indian expertise and establishing joint partnerships.
Following the meeting, a number of Syrian and Indian businessmen stressed the
importance of launching the Syrian-Indian Business Council to introduce the investment
environment in the two countries.
Chairman of Indian IPI Engineering Company SBS Bakshi told SANA that launching the
Syrian-Indian Business Council in the presence of Indian President Devisingh Patil
indicates the Indian businessmen's interest in the investment opportunities iavailable in
Syria.
For his part, Vijay Rai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of 'Solo Energy' Company
expressed his company's interest in enhancing cooperation with Syrian businessmen and
companies in the field of energy, adding that the Council will help establish joint
investment projects, especially in the abundance of resources in Syria.
Bassam Ghraoui, Member of Syrian-Indian Business Council pointed out to the diversity
of fields which cooperation could include, particularly in the fields of pharmaceutical
industries, IT, education and training.
Member of Syrian-Indian Business Council Radwan Moussalli considered that
establishing the Council is one of the important results achieved due to the distinguished
relation between Syria and India. (SANA)
