STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
The following represent the strategic objectives identified for each of the six priority areas:
VIOLENT CRIME
To reduce gun crime and gang related violence through
enhanced enforcement, prevention and education
To reduce street robberies and non-institutional
robberies
To reduce domestic violence and repeat victimization
To improve the quality of Missing Person investigations
and prevent the violent victimization of persons
reported missing
PROPERTY CRIME
Enhance interdiction efforts focused on break and
enters, auto theft and identity theft
Enhance targeting of habitual offenders to interrupt the
crime cycle typical of property crime offenders
Enhance the production, integration and dissemination
of intelligence and crime analysis into day to day
policing operations
Improve external communications and public
awareness relative to property crime and effective
prevention strategies
YOUTH
Continue partnerships in the delivery of drug education,
awareness and prevention programs aimed at youth
and their families
Enhance efforts to identify and address youth at risk,
root causes of high risk or other anti-social behaviours,
and opportunities for early intervention
Continue the development of partnership programs
that engage youth in positive social development and
recreation opportunities
Promote and develop appropriate community based
intervention and diversion programming and restorative
justice practices
TRAFFIC SAFETY
Develop enforcement initiatives targeting high collision
areas, playground park and school zones, impaired
driving, speeding, aggressive driving and seat belt
infractions
Partner with the community to improve awareness of
high collision areas, dangerous driving practices, and
other traffic safety issues
Develop, share, and act upon intelligence specific to
traffic safety and collisions
Support and contribute towards implementation of the
RCMP National Road Safety Vision 2010 initiative
