HOSPITALITY
During EYOF an international elite sports network (sport officials)
was present. NOC*NSF, the Province and City of Utrecht joined
forces and organised a reception around the Opening Ceremony.
On top of that, NOC*NSF and the City of Utrecht organised a
number of other receptions during the EYOF week.
Collecting the Olympic Flame in Athens
The aim of lighting the flame in the Panathenaic Stadium in
Athens specifically for Utrecht and bringing it to the Netherlands
was to have a very tangible means of communication that
speaks to the imagination, which can be used at numerous
side events.
• Two-day trip (29 and 30 May 2013) for EYOF delegation made
up of 3 people
• Permission from all authorities to transport the Olympic Flame
on the plane
• Lighting and handover of Flame in Panathenaic Stadium
in Athens in accordance with the Olympic traditions
Two torches with Olympic Flame (one back-up Flame)
• Press conference upon arrival at Schiphol Airport

The Olympic Flame arrives in The Netherlands

Chefs de Mission Seminar
In accordance with the rules of the EYOF Charter, a top quality
seminar was organised for the Chefs de Mission of the 49
participating NOCs three months prior to the EYOF. At this
seminar the Chefs de Mission received detailed information
about the organisation of the EYOF Utrecht 2013.
Three-day seminar (25-28 April 2013)
•
Representatives of 42 of the 49 EYOF countries.
Participants: 67 Chefs de Mission, 7 observers (Tbilisi and
Gyor), 11 Technical Delegates, 4 members of the Coordination
Committee and the EYOF project manager from EOC.
• Plenary programme on the first day with presentations from
cluster managers.
• Plenary closing session with opportunity to ask questions
on the last day of the seminar.
Visit to the sports venues, including a cycling trip on Het Lint (7)
Visit to the Olympic Villages (2)
• Official dinner (Friday evening) and closing party
(Saturday evening)
• Transport for all participants to and from Schiphol
and Eindhoven

Promotion of the city of Utrecht: boot trip on the canals
of Utrecht and dinner in The Railway Museum
Opening and closing Ceremony
Opening Ceremony: A festive Opening Ceremony at which
Utrecht presented itself as a city of knowledge and culture within
which sport plays a prominent role.

Ruben Haukes (1 bronze Olympic Medal, judo), Floris-Jan
Bovenlander (1 gold, 1 bronze Olympic Medal in field hockey)
• Cultural programme was organised by the Treaty of Utrecht
with talents from Utrecht

• Reception with standing buffet for guests (550) before the start
and a drinks reception in a separate section of the stadium
afterwards
• Dinner after the ceremony for 35 people
