Session 3:
Equipment for handling AdBlue and
AdBlue distribution network in China
The third session of the day heard the testimony of
Chinese AdBlue producers and suppliers on the current
and future market. Jeanne Guo from KLS outlined the
major problems for Chinese AdBlue supply as coverage,
lack of knowledge, quality and the cold weather. KLS
already supplies AdBlue in China using different formats
and to several engine and truck manufacturers.
Qiao Ying from Sinopec explained the company’s
involvement in the AdBlue market. Sinopec has already
installed a pilot AdBlue pump installation at one of its
service stations in Beijing. The company is planning
on supplying AdBlue at all its service stations where
low sulphur diesel will be supplied. It already has an
extensive, storage and transportation network. Sinopec
is producing the right grade of urea to be used for
AdBlue production.
Next, Feroze Chowdary from Cummins Filtration
shared his experience from the Australian market. The
hot weather is one of the main concerns in Australia.
However, the company has found ways to deal with
the issue by using special distribution vehicles. He
underlined again the importance of customer education
to insure correct usage of AdBlue.
In a final panel discussion, the panellists agreed that
in early stages the main supply format would be
canisters (10L-20L) as seen in other markets. Trucks
often need to travel long distances without available
service stations which is why canisters are necessary.
IBCs would also be an important supply method in the
early stage. The practice of IBC refilling is already done
in China. Another problem concerns taxing the product
as it comes into the country. Current taxes are very
high because the product is not treated separately from
fertilizers.
All participants agreed that it will require a joint effort
from all market players to ensure the establishment of a
good AdBlue infrastructure to support the introduction
of China National IV.
