PARTNER COUNTRY ITALY HANNOVER MESSE 2010
SEMINAR PROGRAMME
Monday, 19 April 2010
Sustainable mobility:
The technological challenge for Italy
11:00 – 13:00 Hall 6, Stand F01
Italian Pavilion, Seminar area
The event is devoted to Italy’s cutting edge and
first-class innovations in the field of sustainable
transport. Technology is playing a key role in
achieving sustainable and, in terms of energy, efficient
mobility systems. The technology applied
to sustainable mobility is improving the energy
balance, minimising dependence on traditional
energy sources and reducing environmental pollution.
Continual improvements in the efficiency
of thermal motors and the wider use of hybrid
and electric vehicles can provide an answer to
specific mobility needs and generally contribute
to sustainable economic development.
R&D Highlights in Italy:
From the stars to industry and back
to the stars
09:00 – 11:30 Hall 6, Stand F01
Italian Pavilion – Seminar area
By presenting specific projects, the scientists will
invite you on a journey of new discoveries and
new instruments – a journey aimed at researching
the universe and clarifying whether there is
life on other planets. In addition, they will also
highlight the challenges and opportunities for
European industry offered by the construction
of the E-ELT giant telescope.
ESO
The intense collaboration between Italy and
Germany in the fields of astronomy and
astrophisics (at bilateral level as well as through
their membership in the European Southern
Observatory - ESO) has developed advanced
instruments which are able to detect very weak
light signals coming from the most distant parts
of the Universe. It is therefore opportune to
stress the importance of this partnership when
presenting scientific achievements at the Hannover
Messe.
Moderator: Vincenzo Dovì –
Scientific advisor at the Italian Embassy in Berlin
