Edit the following play. The following questions may help you.<br />
1. Are the stage directions sufficient to describe the situation, action and movement of characters?<br />
Add more stage directions.<br />
2. Some stage directions have been given. What changes in the form of the action words would you<br />
like to make?<br />
3. Do you want to make any changes in the dialogue? Do we have to use some contracted forms in<br />
the dialogue?<br />
4. Can we shorten some dialogues?<br />
5. Are the dialogues appropriate to the characters? Do you want to include or delete some dialogues?<br />
THE TEST<br />
King Dharmaraja’s court. The ministers and courtiers. A soldier came forward.<br />
The soldier : The King of Brahmapuri, arrives....<br />
The king arrived with the queen and sat on the throne.<br />
The courtiers : Long live King Dharmaraja..... Long live.....<br />
The King : I have to tell you a very important thing. I have decided to give a special<br />
gift to my sons.<br />
Minister : Sir, they are intelligent, brave and courageous. We are proud of them.<br />
The King : Well said, your majesty!! It is going to be a very different gift.<br />
Minister : What would be that, your Majesty? We all are very eager to know.<br />
(King Dharmaraja smiled).<br />
The King : My dear Courtiers! My dear Ministers! What would a loving father like<br />
me present my sons with? Can you guess?<br />
Courtier 1 : A loving father like you will present his sons with a treasure of gold!<br />
Courtier 2 : A loving father like you will present his sons with Diamonds! Ornaments!<br />
Precious stones!<br />
Courtier 3 : My lord... Are you planning to hand over your powers? Your reins?<br />
The king : Ha ha ha... not yet! Don’t make haste. Am I that old? (Laughs again).<br />
Minister : No.... My lord.... Not at all. Long live the king .... Long live king<br />
Dharmaraja.<br />
