The local newspapers published a notification of Ranchi University announcing the termination
of affiliation of all the three NCTE recognised Christian B Ed Colleges in Jharkhand, including
LCE. Victor is actively pursuing the renewal of affiliation with the University and HRD
Ministry. Meanwhile, the admission process for the fresh batch has been completed. The classes
for this batch will begin from 1 July.
A twelve day workshop was conducted from 27 May to 8 June at LCE by the faculty memberscum-counsellors
for IGNOUS B Ed students. Gilbert, as the Director of the workshop, saw that
all the 85 students who attended the mandatory workshop had a pleasant learning experience.
Mrs Sarita Sahay has been appointed a new faculty member.
Victor is busy attending to the various maintenance work of the College before the new session
begins.
Loyola Bhavan
- Gilbert D'Souza
Come summer and most of the Jesuits are on the move. Loyola Bhavan and HLC were not
exception. First Joe Njara attended a tertian-instructors course at Shembag. Robert Sequeira
went to Bangalore. The junior Sequeira, Jerome, followed him and made his home-visit to
Mangalore. But before that he conducted a computer crash course for eight Scholastics who were
at HLC for an intensive 12 day Oriya course. That kept them really busy. The new member of
LB, Joe Surin, too moved to Chaibasa for a ten day driving course. There to his surprise, he
came to know he was to be the Villa Superior in Jilling. Frs Jerry Kujur, Oscar and McGrath
held the fort at LB and HLC. Jerry supervised the repairs and maintenance at LB, all through the
hot season.
Meanwhile, Fr McGrath conducted a course for the government doctors at XIMB. Joe Surin
made a trip to Deepti Bhavan to give orientation and team-building course to the candidates.
Oscar says, "640 students joined for Spoken English course for the May-August session".
Loyola Communications, Bhubaneswar
- Joe Surin
Communications personnel Joseph Surin and George Hess have moved to Loyola Bhavan
which is at close to 100% occupancy with five residents.
The office of the Centre is located in a rented building, C8 BJB Nagar, close to the old town
area. Signboards help in directing visitors to the site identified as Loyola Centre for
Communications and Culture. Classes in several media fields are being held. More areas for our
expertise are being explored. Visitors are welcome.
