Sustainers SuStainer PreSident’S remarkS One of my favorite holiday stories is The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry. In this short story, a young couple does not have much money to spend on Christmas gifts for each other. The husband sells his gold watch to buy combs for his wife’s beautiful hair. She cuts and sells her hair to buy a chain for his watch. O. Henry creates a shining example of giving and receiving and ends the story with these words, “O all who give and receive gifts, such as they are wisest.” Thank you for your gifts of time, talent and giving to the JLM. I look forward to celebrating with you at the holiday party at Tricia Davis’ home on December 11, welcoming in the New Year at Eve of the Eve on December 30, and doing community service work at the Project Impact Days on January 13 and 17. They will both come back to the table when the Clubhouse is expected to open. Remembering Patty Smith We extend our condolences to the family of Patty Smith who passed away on November 10 after a courageous yearlong journey with brain cancer. Patty had served in many JLM positions including Board of Directors, Nominating committee, and the Clothes Line chair. She had also been active in Free Arts Minnesota and the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery.
