Europe. It was commissioned<br />

by Jean, Duc de Berry, early in the 15th century<br />

and executed largely by the Limbourg brothers, the<br />

master miniature painters. The 139 full-color plates<br />

of this facsimile reproduce the text and miniatures<br />

in actual size. The book’s introduction & preface<br />

discuss the provenance and the significance of<br />

the manuscript as a whole, and a commentary is<br />

provided for the plates. A wonderful volume at a<br />
