Also on the Summary tab, you’ll find the baffling little option called Sync only<br />

checked songs and videos. This is a global override—a last-ditch “keep the<br />

embarrassing songs off my <strong>iPhone</strong>” option.<br />

When this option is turned on, iTunes consults the tiny checkboxes next to every<br />

single song and video in your iTunes library. If you turn off a song’s checkbox, it<br />

will not get synced to your <strong>iPhone</strong>, no matter what—even if you use the Music tab<br />

to sync All songs or playlists, or explicitly turn on a playlist that contains this song.<br />

If the song’s or video’s checkbox isn’t checked in your Library list, it will be left<br />

behind on your <strong>com</strong>puter.<br />

Eight Tabs to Glory<br />

Once your <strong>iPhone</strong> is cabled up to the <strong>com</strong>puter’s USB port, click its icon in the<br />

iTunes Source list. The middle part of the iTunes window now reveals eight<br />

file-folder tabs, representing the eight categories of stuff you can sync to your<br />

<strong>iPhone</strong>.<br />
