Events news<br />
Benefactors’ garden party<br />
Due to the inclement weather in June this year’s Benefactors’ Garden Party,<br />
hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, was relocated to the Canterbury campus and was<br />
enjoyed, indoors at the Darwin Conference Suite, by 146 guests.<br />
Sponsored events in aid <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Kent</strong> Law Campaign<br />
• Anna Pollard (K98 and Campaigns<br />
Manager at the <strong>University</strong>) ran the<br />
London Marathon to raise funds for<br />
the <strong>Kent</strong> Law Campaign, raising over<br />
£3,500<br />
• Natalie Salunke (E02 and Chair <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Young Alumni Fundraising Group) and<br />
Darren Ellis (Development Office) took<br />
part in a sponsored skydive, raising<br />
£3,000<br />
• The Young Alumni Fundraising Group<br />
organised a sponsored walk from<br />
Canterbury to Whitstable, raising £500.<br />
Legacy lunch<br />
Keith Mander, Deputy Vice-Chancellor<br />
hosted a dinner to give thanks to<br />
supporters who have pledged to<br />
remember the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Kent</strong> through<br />
their wills. One current scholar attended<br />
the dinner to express her thanks on behalf<br />
<strong>of</strong> students who will benefit in time from<br />
the guests support. The dinner culminated<br />
in a personalised tour <strong>of</strong> the campus<br />
taking in the new Jarman Building.<br />
Scholarship ‘thank you’ event<br />
The inaugural Scholarship event took<br />
place in March this year and was attended<br />
by 104 guests. Keith Mander, the Deputy<br />
Vice-Chancellor, hosted the event at the<br />
Canterbury campus and gave thanks to<br />
all those who generously support<br />
Scholarships at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Kent</strong>.<br />
