Driven by our social responsibility, Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “KAHARAMAA”
celebrated Qatar National Sports Day by organizing various sports activities at Katara Cultural
Village. The event witnessed interaction among KAHARAMAA family members represented by HE
Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, HE Engineer Essa bin Hilal Al
Kuwari, KAHARAMAA President, and a large gathering of employees and their families dressed in
sports uniforms in preparation for trying all sports available for all ages.
The celebration of Sports Day came in accordance with the Emiri Decree No. (80) for the year
2011 to mark the National Sports Day on the second Tuesday of February in every year, which is a
civilized action by all standards and indicates the appreciation of Qatar’s Government and people
for the role of sport and the importance of practicing it. Sport is a civilized and healthy behaviour
and beneficial to everybody that practices it. According to the four basic pillars of Qatar National
Vision 2030 to achieve sustainable development for our beloved country, the achievement of social
and human development can be attained only with the existence of healthy and active citizens
in the society.
We in KAHARAMAA recognize the value of sport and athletes and we always encourage our
employees to exercise in order to realize its importance and its role in the lives of individuals and
communities. The event that we held is nothing but an expression of our deep commitment to
contribute to improving the health and well-being of the Qatari society in general, and employees
in particular. Sport and physical activities provide everybody the opportunity to actively participate
and use their energies in a positive way that benefits both their health and efforts for achieving the
goals of the corporation.
