NEWS H.E. Minister of Energy & Industry Visited KAHRAMAA CSD H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada Minister of Energy & Industry and KAH- RAMAA President H.E. Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari paid a visit to KAHRAMAA Customer Service Department (CSD). It comes within the Minister’s interest in the development of KAHRAMAA services. At the beginning of the visit, a presentation was given by Customer Services Manager Eng. Nasser Al-Mohannadi on Customer services performance and new projects. The senior officials then inspected the services provided for customer especially the single window scheme meant to meet all the requirements of customers easily and on the spot by one employee making procedures easier, saving time and effort. Al-Kuwari said,” KAHRAMAA is in the process of launching new projects for the provision of high quality services at the lowest effort and cost. The single window scheme runs in this context” CSD considers the increasing customer number and the comprehensive development the State witnesses. CSD has set various plans covering a five year period. They are annually reviewed and amended if necessary. CSE works as per QNV 2030 and QNDS 2011 – 2016 in order to achieve the sustainable development. There is an overall plan to study customer requirements and search ways of developing automated services to make procedures more convenient. In this context, there is cooperation with other KAHRAMAA departments. KAHRAMAA & BARWA Signed MoU for AMR Within the coordination and cooperation between Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” and BARWA Real Estate, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two parties for the provision of Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) at BARWA projects. The MOU was signed by KAHRAMAA President H.E. Eng. Essa hilal Al-Kuwari and BARWA CEO Eng. Abdulla Abdulaziz Al-Subaie. The signing ceremony was attended by a number of top officials from both parties. At the beginning of the ceremony, Eng. Al-Kuwari welcomed the attendance stressing KAHRAMAA commitment to achieve cooperation and coordination with BARWA and different State authorities for the provision of high quality electricity and water services. It is meant for the development of State economic sectors. KAHRAMAA President hailed the corporate cooperation between the State leading corporations. It is worth to mention that the MoU signing is the outcome of coordination meetings between KAHRAMAA and BARWA where the later expressed its interest in installing an automatic meter reading system in its real estate projects. KAHRAMAA is now in the process of implementing a project for remote meter reading all over the State as per the highest standards and approved specifications. Upon completion, it will be one of the latest systems in the world. 6
NEWS Doha to Host 10th GCC Water Conference on April 22 Under the patronage of HE Minister of Energy and Industry, Dr Mohammad Saleh Al Sada, Doha will host for the second time the 10th GCC Water Conference on April 22-23, HE Engineer Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, President of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), announced recently. The Conference is jointly organized by the Water Science and Technology Association (WSTA), Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) and GCC Secretariat General under the slogan “Water in the GCC States - The Water-Energy-Food Nexus” at Grand Hayat Hotel, Doha. This was announced at a press conference in the presence of HE Engineer Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, Eng Ali Saif Al Maliki, head of the Conference Organizing committee and Director of Water Network Systems at KAHRAMAA, Mr Raed Chehayeb, Managing Director of Interactive Business Networks (IBN), in addition to representatives of companies sponsoring the conference, a number of KAHRAMAA Managers, a large crowd of representatives of the sponsors of the conference and Qatar, Gulf, Arab and international press delegates KAHRAMAA Meet with Electricity Contractors on 2012 Plan Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” represented by Electricity Distribution Department (ED) held a meeting with electricity contractors in Qatar to familiarize them on Department upcoming 2012 tenders. The department believes that the contractors will be better prepared to meet the requirements of the project and hence improve quality, also the tendering procedures become more competitive and transparent. A presentation was displayed on 2012 tenders. They are grouped under: construction (electricity distribution network works, direct service connections, civil maintenance works of electrical sub-stations, and construction of over headlines), maintenance (cable fault repair round the clock, disconnection of distribution services, maintenance of diesel generators), standby (supply of skilled technicians for load reading) protection (improvement of protection system, routine maintenance of system protection, and calibration of instruments), and condition monitoring (condition monitoring for equipment of electrical distribution substations 11/0.4 KV and LV overhead lines of electrical distribution network). 7
