Demarco. Whether it’s performing
on stage or creating the latest beat
or riddim for the dancehall, Demarco
excels equally at whatever he chooses
to focus. With a resume comparable to
any act in the game, Demarco continues
to stay motivated and continues to
push himself to do more. BOSS had a
chance to speak with Demarco and ask
him about being such a multi-faceted
talent.
You’re such a versatile
talent with the ability to
perform, produce, song,
write, and engineer. Which
of these do you most enjoy
doing?
artists. Which one of them has most
impressed you with their work inside
the studio?
I can’t allude to one particular individual,
what I can say is I try to take the
positives from each artiste I encounter
and see where it’s applicable in the
improvement of my own work ethic.
However I find the Reggae acts to be
very committed to their craft.
Lazy Body has been so well received
on charts across the world. Talk about
of work throughout your career.
What keeps you motivated to keep
creating?
Thank you for the acknowledgement.
What keeps me motivated is life and
its experiences garnered through
travelling, experiencing new people,
cultures and most importantly the
fans. As an entertainer something
you feel like you want to stop, take a
break or change direction but the fans
constantly remind you that your work
helps them through their day/life and

point, but I enjoying them
all equally. I like the idea
of being able to contribute
creatively to every aspect of
a composition from thought
to finish.

Is there an aspect of
your talent that you will
eventually focus on?
Meaning do you ever see
yourself just doing one
thing?
No I don’t see myself
focusing on any one thing;
but lately I’ve developed a
strong affinity for the visual
arts, film making to be
more specific. I’ve started
investing more time into
that aspect of my career my
latest work is ‘Lazy Body’
which was completely shot
and edited in–house by my
team True Gift Entertainment.
How does your mindset change when
creating a dancehall riddim as oppose
to a hip hop or R&B track?
When composing a beat I try to
immerse myself into the culture,
lifestyle of mindset of the person/thing
I am creating the project for. That helps
to provide the inspiration needed or
sometimes inspiration comes from my
own experiences or those around me.
You’ve worked with countless
the process in creating the track.
I was at the studio vibing with the team
after returning from my Australian
tour. Jay Crazie my producer played
the beat and the words just came
to me. After completing the verses I
thought it needed more excitement
and moments later Hotta Maestro
walked into the studio and everyone
knows how he can energize a party so
he laid his vocals on the track and the
rest is history.
You have amassed a long resume
that within itself is motivation that
you’re not just doing this for yourself
but for the many that looks to you and
your words for comfort.
What does the word “success” mean
for Demarco?
Success could be defined as “the
accomplishment of one’s aim or
purpose in life”; relating to me that
would be being able to do what I love
(music) while earning a living and still
be afforded the joy of spending time
with family and those close to me.
