Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu melech ha’olam, shehakol niheyeh bid-va-ro.
Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Ruler of the universe, through Whose word everything
came to be.
This brachah is used for all foods that are not the product of the soil and includes meat,
fish, milk, eggs, cheese, and all beverages except wine. The brachah is very interesting
because it does not seem to relate to food – “through Whose word everything came to
be.” It can be used to illustrate something that is so important to teach to young children –
God's presence in everything around us. So we teach this brachah in very different ways
than the others.
Wine and Grape Juice – Borei Pri Ha’gafen

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Ruler of the universe, who creates the fruit of the vine.
We say this brachah when we drink wine or grape juice but not when we eat grapes. For
grapes we say borei pri ha’eitz.
