Acknowledgements
The Saint Joseph Berea Steering Committee was the convening body for this project. Many other
individuals including community residents, key informants, and community-based organizations
contributed to this community health needs assessment.
Project Steering Committee and CHNA Advisory Committee
Special thanks to all the community members, and hospital employees who committed time and
information in order to complete this CHNA project.
Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) and Berea College Professors and Interns
Saint Joseph Berea was fortunate to have student interns with the cooperation of their professors assist in
completing survey results, interviews and focus groups. They collected data, assisted with focus groups,
worked on special projects and generally agreed to do all that was asked of them. Their assistance in
pulling the pieces together was extremely helpful.
Key Informants
Thank you to the business persons, physicians, city officials, and individuals who participated in our key
informant interview process, offering their perspective on community health needs.
Focus Group Participants
People from different walks of life participated in the Focus Group for Saint Joseph Berea Hospital’s
CHNA. Focus group participants included members of the hospital’s patient advisory council, current and
former patients, patient caregivers, first responders, parents, teachers and county agencies. In order to
protect the privacy of the participants, individual names have not been listed.
