From day 3 to day 5- Formula Roudybush Squab Handfeed®<br />

Feed 4 parts water: 1 part formula<br />

From day 6 to day 10- Formula Roudybush Squab Handfeed®<br />

Feed 3 parts water: 1 part formula<br />

From day 11 to day 21 to weaning- Formula Roudybush Formula 3®<br />

Feed initially 3 parts water: 1 part formula and reduce water as chick<br />

approaches weaning<br />

When formula is fed out it should be the same temperature as your wrist<br />

11.9 Specific Requirements:<br />

requirements needed to hand raise this bird.<br />

It should be noted that success rates will be higher if birds of a si milar size and age are<br />

kept and raised together.<br />

11.10 Pinioning Requirements:<br />

There is no reason to pinion this bird.<br />

11.11 Data Recording:<br />

There are t wo st ages to t he d ata r ecording. There i s data rec ording f or t he eg g an d<br />

data recording for the chick.<br />

When the egg is collected the following should be recorded:<br />

• The eggs fresh weight (g)(Length*Breadth*Breadth*0.548)<br />

• Date it was collected<br />

• Date it was layed<br />

• Length (cm)<br />

• Breadth (cm)<br />

• Egg volume (cm 3 )(L*B*B*0.51)<br />

• Egg condition<br />

• If it is fertile<br />

The egg can be determined to be fertile by candling.<br />

The egg can be written on with a lead pencil. It should be labeled with the date it was<br />

collected, where it was collected from, the species and its initial weight.<br />

Once the egg is in incubation it should have a r ecords chart. On the chart should be<br />

recorded:<br />

• The number of days the egg has been in incubation<br />

• The eggs actual weight<br />

• Density<br />

• Vein growth (%)<br />

• Date<br />

• Expected number of days till pipping<br />
