Thomas Bitter<br />

Background and Education:<br />
Judge Bitter was born <strong>in</strong><br />
Dubuque, Iowa, <strong>the</strong> fifth of six<br />
children. He graduated with a<br />
liberal arts degree from Loras<br />
College <strong>in</strong> 1993. He received<br />
his law degree, with dist<strong>in</strong>ction,<br />
from <strong>the</strong> University of Iowa <strong>in</strong><br />
1996.<br />
Professional Activities: Judge Bitter has been a member<br />
of The Iowa State Bar Association and <strong>the</strong> Dubuque County<br />
Bar Association s<strong>in</strong>ce 1996, serv<strong>in</strong>g as secretary of <strong>the</strong><br />
Dubuque County Bar Association for seven years. He<br />
currently serves as a drug court judge and a member of<br />
<strong>the</strong> Iowa Child Support Guidel<strong>in</strong>es Review Committee.<br />
Family and Hobbies: Judge Bitter is married with three<br />
children, and spends most of his free time do<strong>in</strong>g anyth<strong>in</strong>g<br />
active, such as walk<strong>in</strong>g and play<strong>in</strong>g basketball, or<br />
watch<strong>in</strong>g his children play sports.<br />
Career: From 1996 to 2011,<br />
Judge Bitter was <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> private practice of law with Bitter<br />
Law Office <strong>in</strong> Dubuque.<br />
Community Activities: Judge Bitter was a volunteer mock<br />
trial coach for Dubuque schools for three years.<br />

Background and Education:<br />
Judge L<strong>in</strong>green was born <strong>in</strong> Fort<br />
Dodge, Iowa. She received her<br />
bachelor’s degree from Drake<br />
University <strong>in</strong> 1974, and <strong>in</strong> 1977<br />
she earned her law degree from<br />
<strong>the</strong> same <strong>in</strong>stitution.<br />
Career: From 1979 to 1991,<br />
Judge L<strong>in</strong>green practiced law<br />
with a private firm and served<br />
as assistant Allamakee County<br />
attorney.<br />
Professional Activities: Judge L<strong>in</strong>green is a member<br />
of <strong>the</strong> Allamakee County Bar Association, The Iowa Bar<br />
Association, and <strong>the</strong> Iowa Judges Association (IJA).<br />
She served on <strong>the</strong> Iowa Supreme Court’s Advisory<br />
Committee on Iowa Rules of Evidence and on <strong>the</strong> Iowa<br />
Supreme Court’s Model Code of <strong>Judicial</strong> Conduct Study<br />
Committee. Judge L<strong>in</strong>green is currently chairperson of<br />
both <strong>the</strong> Howard County and W<strong>in</strong>neshiek County <strong>Judicial</strong><br />
Magistrate Appo<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g Commissions. She served on <strong>the</strong><br />
Education Committee of <strong>the</strong> IJA, as well as <strong>the</strong> Family<br />
Law Committee of <strong>the</strong> IJA.<br />
Family: Judge L<strong>in</strong>green is married with two children.<br />
