Background and Education:<br />
Judge Egly received her<br />
bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf<br />
College <strong>in</strong> 1971 and her law<br />
degree from Drake University <strong>in</strong><br />
1974.<br />
Career: After graduat<strong>in</strong>g from<br />
law school, Judge Egly served<br />
as assistant attorney general<br />
for <strong>the</strong> State of Iowa until 1977.<br />
While <strong>in</strong> private practice, she<br />
was a part-time magistrate and<br />
part-time hear<strong>in</strong>g officer for <strong>the</strong> State of Iowa until her<br />
appo<strong>in</strong>tment to district associate judge.<br />
Louise M. Jacobs<br />

Background and Education:<br />
Judge Jacobs earned her<br />
bachelor’s degree, with<br />
dist<strong>in</strong>ction, from <strong>the</strong> University<br />
of M<strong>in</strong>nesota and her law<br />
degree, with honors, Order of<br />
<strong>the</strong> Coif, from Drake University.<br />
Professional Activities: Judge Jacobs is a member of<br />
<strong>the</strong> Polk County Bar Association, The Iowa State Bar<br />
Association, <strong>the</strong> American Judges Association, <strong>the</strong> National<br />
Association of Women Judges, and <strong>the</strong> C. Edw<strong>in</strong> Moore Inn<br />
of Court.<br />
Career: Judge Jacobs served<br />
as assistant city attorney for<br />
Des Mo<strong>in</strong>es, Iowa, and was<br />
also <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> private practice<br />
of law. From 1997 until her<br />
appo<strong>in</strong>tment as district associate judge, she served as<br />
Polk County magistrate.<br />
