Deb Boardman, the wife of Gene Lefevre,
was recently given a bouquet of flowers
by a friend to take home with her. On
her way, Deb decided to try to catch a
glimpse of Prince Charles and Camilla
on their recent visit to Philadelphia.
The Duchess of Cornwall made a beeline
for Deb (aka Duchess of Delhi Street),
engaged her in conversation, and
thanked her for bringing the flowers,
which she accepted graciously—if not
presumptuously!
Dr. Bert Whetstone recently began
working with a national workshop organization
to promote his teacher and
parent training called “Child-Centered
Team Building: Using Relationships to
Promote Learning.” Over the past 33
years, Bert has developed a model for
looking at the world through a child’s
eyes, and has used this perspective to
promote agreement among the teachers,
parents, coaches, and other professionals

Jim Brooke writes: “After leaving Tokyo
and the Times last June, I reinvented myself
as a roving Russia feature writer for
Bloomberg, arriving in Moscow last fall.
In February, I became bureau chief for
Russia and Central Asia. Not only is it an
exciting political transition year in Russia
(Putin is to step down in May 2008),
but it is an exciting time to take over
Bloomberg’s Russia operation. We are
essentially doubling the news staff, hiring
television and print reporters, and opening
news offices in St. Petersburg (May)
and Kazakhstan (summer). On the home
front, Elizabeth is keeping track of the
boys from Katonah (Westchester) where
James is finishing up high school. William
is a freshman at Andover, and Alex
is a freshman at St. Paul’s—the school
I migrated to after completing middle
school at EA in 1969.

Shippen Bright has lived in Maine for
many years, a favorite place of his growing
up. Ship’s passion for Maine led him
to found the Maine Lakes Conservancy
in 1999 (www.mlci.org) for which he
now travels nationally to raise funds.
Anthony Fisher writes: “Still love living
in Portland, OR, still working in municipal
finance, and amazed that I just took
my daughter on a college tour—how did
that happen? I’m also serving as president
of the Reed College Alumni Association,
showing no good deed goes unpunished.

Peter Hay Halpert writes: “I have opened
a new gallery in Chelsea, on what the
New York Times called ‘The Hot Block
in the Art World.’ We’re also right off
the High Line, so when the city finishes
the High Line renovation/public
parkway project (anchored by the new
Whitney Museum to be built down on
Gansevoort St.), you’ll be able to step off
the High Line, directly into our building,
on our floor. An exhibition, ‘Out of
Darkness: The Contemporary Revival
of Early Photography’ at the University
of Central Florida Museum in Orlando
featured quite a few pieces from my personal
photography collection. I gave a
lecture at the museum earlier, in November.”

Tucker Van Dyck recently wrote: “I
graduated from the University of Virginia
in 1983, and the Pennsylvania College
of Optometry in 2002, and work with a
private group practice providing vision
care services for nursing homes and rehabilitation
centers all over Virginia, as
well as several other states. I moved to
Williamsburg in 2000, and several years
ago moved to a wonderful home in the
historic district, fulfilling my childhood
dream of moving to the colonial area. I
enjoy sailing and I race with a great crew
of guys throughout most of the year.
Most importantly, I live with a girl who
is not only the love of my life, but the
smartest person I know. Life is good. I
hope all is well at EA!”

great on the West Coast. I live in San
Francisco with my partner, David Adams,
and our five-year-old daughter,
Eliana. She just started kindergarten. I
was just promoted to assistant city manager
of the city of Santa Rosa, a city of
160,000 in wine country north of SF. I
would love to hear from classmates who
are visiting!”
Clayton French and his wife Pam welcomed
their third child, William
“Dawson” on January 14, 2006.
Mike McAlaine has been married to Gail
Lasprogata for 13 years and has lived in
the Seattle, WA area for almost as long.
He works in sales in high technology
and has held a variety of management
and non-management sales positions.
He has been with Microsoft for the last
six years, working with large- and medium-size
customers throughout the Pacific
Northwest. Gail is a professor of business
law at Seattle University. Mike and Gail
have three boys, Liam, Aidan, and Con-
