Physical structure of coral reef: 90%<br />

damaged and broken at depths of 2-3 m,<br />

coral type still existing is massive coral. 3/4<br />

of the Acropora digitata and tabulate was<br />

damaged. Living coral cover: 10% at depths<br />

of 2-3 m. At depths greater than 3 m coral<br />

cover was still in good condition.<br />

Sedimentationi (mud, sand or pebbles) was<br />

not detected during the survey,<br />

sedimentation may have occurred for<br />

several days after the tsunami (2005)<br />

Area west of Pulau Weh, percentage of<br />

stone coral cover ranged from good to<br />

moderate (north of Teluk Lheung Angin =<br />

28.17 %.Teluk Dalam Lheung Angin = 9.93<br />

%); mortality index (north of Teluk Lheung<br />

Angin = 0.62, Teluk Dalam Lheung Angin =<br />

0.58), Substrate generally sandy and stony.<br />

Coral life forms were dominated by<br />

Acropora, the most commonly found was<br />

branching Acropora.<br />

Area north of Pulau Weh, coral cover<br />

showed range from bad to good. Lifeform<br />

composition dominated by Acropora.<br />

Mortality Index varied from 0.05 to 0.64,<br />

influenced by rubble cover.<br />

Area east of Pulau Weh, Percentage of<br />

coral cover was moderate to very good,<br />

because influence from human activity was<br />

low (2004)<br />

(depth 3 m) The eastern area was less<br />

influenced by human activity. Stone coral<br />

growth in this area was supported by<br />

currents and waves from the Malacca<br />

Straits.<br />

Compared to the other areas, the northern<br />

area was more influenced by tourism<br />

activities, which hindered coral growth.<br />
