Environmental science technicians perform
environmental assessments, investigate sources of
pollution, and collect samples of gas, soil, water and
other materials.
Most recently, graduates of this program have found
cutting-edge jobs with alternative fuel suppliers (such
as ethanol plants) testing the plant’s product to ensure
all stages of production are working properly.
Duties may also include:
• Making chemical solutions and reagents
• Conduction environmental site assessments
• Performing quality assurance evaluations
• Participating in research and development
programs
• Using various instruments to collect, prepare and
analyze environmental samples
• Performing microbiologic and molecular testing
• Conducting ecological wildlife surveys- and more!
LATI’s Environmental Technology program is a great
choice for anyone who cares about the future of our
environment. If you like science, variety, and being
outdoors, this is the option for you!
What can I expect?
As a student in the Environmental Technology
program you will be trained to use the newest testing
and monitoring technology available. You will also
learn proper sampling and record keeping procedures
through hands-on lessons, experiments and projects
that take place both in and out of the classroom.
To make sure you have the experience you’ll need,
we also require a field internship.

Careers
Environmental science technicians work in the
laboratory and in the field for federal, state, and local
goverment agencies, architectural and engineering
firms, and scientific/technical consultants. You might
also be employed by utility companies, biofuel firms,
or the petroleum and natural gas industries.
Graduates of this program may also choose to
transfer into an environmental management
program at a four-year institution.
