:8. TEST DESIGNS<br />
. Test Designs are detailed specifications of selected program<br />
strategies intended for carefUl field testing in a limited number of<br />
sites. The goal of each test is to examine the effectiveness of a<br />
particular concept or program strategy in varied settings, as well as<br />
to examine the transferability of the concept, and its suitability for<br />
further demonstration and marke~ing.<br />

C. EXEMPLARY PROJECTS<br />
Each year State and local agencies are invited to submit candidate<br />
projects that have been measurably effective in reducing crime or<br />
improving some aspect of the criminal justice system. For the few<br />
selected each year as Exemplary Projects, descriptive brochures and<br />
instruction manuals are developed--to assist local agencies by<br />
identifying successfUl techniques and detailing how they may be<br />
adapted most effectively.<br />
The Exemplary project program is administered by the Institute's<br />
Office of Development, Testing, and Dissemination. Additional information<br />
